The set includes about 160 pieces constructed from marine plywood and finished with one coat of shellac and two coats of water based varnish.
The 2 and 4 notch pieces come in boxes and the rest of the pieces are held together with bungee cords.
The basic playhouse footprint is 4' X 4' but kids will need more room to build.

If you are close to one of these museums stop by and check them out.
The unfinished set includes all the same pieces that the finished set has but all the corners need to be rounded with a router, all the boards need to be sanded (the edges mostly) and the three coats of finish applied. This is about 30-40 hours work depending on how handy you are. See this link for more discussion of what's involved: http://www.woodshop4kids.com/faq.html

Here's the book that shows you how to build these "builder boards" for only $13 dollars .
